UPC – Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya BarcelonaTech is one of biggest Universities in Spain, with more than 38.000 students, 42 departments and 61 research centres, all of them related to technical disciplines. In 2009, in the Spanish Ministry of Education's first round of International Campus of Excellence designations, the UPC, BarcelonaTech, together with the University of Barcelona (UB), was granted the recognition for the Barcelona Knowledge Campus (BKC) project.
In this project one institute of UPC, INTEXTER (focusing to textile processes and applications) will participate with their S&T excellence, in addition to the proven project coordination & management expertise
INTEXTER: Institute of Textile Research and Industrial Cooperation of Terrassa
INTEXTER is a basic unit in the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), with its own administrative and functional structure. Its activities are addressed to encourage research and industrial cooperation in all the fields of the textile area and others related with it.
INTEXTER activities cover two complementary areas which extend form the R+D of products and processes to the establishment of the most adequate mechanisms to open new ways of technological transfer and cooperation with Industry through R+D projects. Another objective of INTEXTER is the training of technologist and researchers which is done by imparting lectures in the Doctorate Courses.
From the technical and scientific point of view, INTEXTER has a broad experience in the research of spinning, weaving and knitting processes and related products. The main part of the research carried out lies in the production processes design, analysis, optimisation and quality assurance. Research activities are concentrated in the development and application of special measuring techniques to analyse and optimize the textile processes in general.
